songo.info race report

The songo.info team for the Kraaifontein leg of the WP BMX Provincial series was a young one.

Race report by Brad Stow.

On Sunday the 16th February the songo.info team, consisting of 13 kids met Ntlantla and Nomvulo at the Songo clubhouse in Kayamandi. They loaded their bikes onto the trailer and headed through to the Kraaifontein BMX track. Ntlantla registered the kids and collected their race number boards while I did some final bike checks and made sure that everyone had the correct safety kit.

The songo team consisted mainly of younger kids under 10 years of age as well as a few kids who had never raced BMX before. We also had quite a few girls racing which is great. The Kraaifontein track is a  great place for less experienced riders to get into BMX as it is less technical with less gradient than other tracks. This allowed our younger riders and first time racers the opportunity to get on the start gate and not feel completely overwhelmed.

The girls loved the opportunity to race.

At the end of the day it was another very successful race for the songo.info team. The kids raced well and represented songo proudly. I have identified a few areas where we can improve which we will focus on in the coming weeks.

The next Provincial race is on the 2nd March in Hermanus and this will be the last chance for the team to prepare for the first SA Cup event in Hermanus in April.

A big thank you to our sponsors Ninety One and Specialized Bikes for their continued support. Without their help none of this would be possible.
