On Saturday, 5 March 2022, 11 children and 2 coaches travelled to the new Zone 7 BMX Track, on the West Coast, to take part in the third round of the Western Province BMX provincial series. The race was also the official opening of the newly built track. As such it was a great opportunity for the kids to ride and experience a new track.
The racing was as close and exciting from the first race. Mila and Uviwe managed to take 1st and 2nd in the Under 14 Girls Category. Amila raced in the Under 9 Category and managed a very impressive 3rd place for the day. Yandisa and Mivuyo both ended up on the Podium in the Under 14 Boys Category. Lakhanya, was our rider of the day and managed to get second place in the Super Class behind the current SA Champ. He is one of the most talented riders in the country and has a bright future ahead of him.
Mila and Uviwe took 1st and 2nd in the U14 Girls division, winning themselves Leatt Helmet and Body Armour respectively.
Overall it was a great day of racing and a day the kids thoroughly enjoyed. The kids also got to watch some Motocross and GoKart racing at Zone 7 after the BMX Event.
