On Saturday, 14 May 2022, 10 children and 4 team managers travelled to Somerset West to take part at the WC XCO High School MTB League #1. songo.info was represented by the following riders:  Mila Yolwa, Likho Mayekiso, Mivuyo Mndini, Amila Mntuyedwa, Milani Dingane, Onesimo Ndzonyana, Liyema madolo, Lilitha Mlenze, and Wanda van Ryan. They were supported by Star, Asabonga, Songezo and Jersey.

Amila Mntuyedwa, Mila Yolwa and Milani Dingana were the top performers of the day.

We left the songo.info clubhouse around 7am for registration at 8am in Somerset West, travelling by Taxi. We arrived on time for registration and got everything sorted and kids got a chance to test the course and they were very excited as there were not many changes to it from the past few years.

Mila Yolwa was songo.info’s top performer on the day, finishing 3rd in the Sub-Junior Girls division.

The racing stared at 10am with youth men category and we had 5 riders at the start: Amila  Mntuyedwa finished 7th, Likho  Mayekiso 8th, Onesimo  Ndzonyana 9th, Mivuyo,  Mndini 15th and Lilitha Mlenze 29th.

At 11:25 we had sub-junior girls on the start line and Mila Yolwa representing songo.info. She was very excited as a it was her first MTB League event. She had an amazing ride, finishing 3rd on the sub-junior girls and was happy with her first podium in a MTB race. Milani Dingana finished 6th in the junior women and was quite happy with her ride.  The last race of the day kicked off at 12:30 and we had two riders, Liyema and Wonda. The two had a really good ride and we were so impressed by Wanda’s ride. He is one of the songo.info top learners on the education side and very chilled when it comes to racing but this weekend was different and its really cool to see the kids so motivated and happy to ride their bikes.

Milani Dingana finished 6th in the junior women’s race.

Thank you to WCSC for the support. Also, a big thank you to AMARIDER for their ongoing support over the years and making the kids feel at home at the school’s races.
