BMX Race

The second race of the new Western Province BMX series was hosted by this past Saturday, the 25th of May. It was the first BMX Race of the year on our track and the first time since we upgraded the first two straights.

We were joined by Velokhaya, Hermanus and a few other kids for our event. Racing was once again fast and furious and the community loved all the action. We had quite a few parents join us for the morning and they loved watching their kids in action.

Jesse from Strand won the Under 8 class ahead of Thomas and Amila from Mila, Ovayo and Kamva from were the top 3 in the Under 10 class. Melanie from won the Under 12 final. The Under 14 Category had more than 17 riders and was very competitive. Amela from won the final with Sibusiswe from Velokhaya coming in second, and Liyemma from in third. The open category was won by Wanga from Velokhaya, with Michard second and Luthando third.

The kids dominating.

We feel that BMX Western Cape is moving in the right direction and is growing nicely. We are already looking forward to hosting many more races next year. Big thanks to Investec, Specialized, Aurecon, Biogen and everyone who makes these events possible, we wouldn’t be able to grow BMX in the province without their help.
