Khanya Xhapha was songo.info’s top performer on the day.

On Saturday, 23rd of July 2022, 8 children plus 2 coaches, including Ntlantla Nonkasa, and a bike mechanic travelled to Durbanville to take part in the Primary Schools League race 2. songo.info was represented by two of our very committed girls, Uviwe Tshali and Khanya Xhapha, who have both showed a very good interest in mountain biking. Along with Uviwe and Khanya were six of our boys; Simamkele Magoqwana, Kamva Mtise, Ovayo Ntsenge, Isakhanya Vimba, Yongama Mndletye and Luyolo.

Our two ladies, who never disappoint, were the top performers of the day. Khanya finish in 2nd in the Sub-Junior Girls and Uviwe finished in 10th position in the Sprog Girls.

Racing to 2nd in the sub-junior girls.

On the day, we arrived at the Durbanville Race Course around 08:00, 30 minutes before registration opened.  At 08:30 I went to register and collect the number boards everything went smoothly and then we got to watch the first three races without any stress as none of the songo.info kids were participating in them. At 11:00 our team started practising the course for about 40 minutes before the sprog boys race got underway at 11:50. 4 of our boys are in the sprogs category, with Ovayo finishing in 8th place, Kamva was just outside top 10 in 12th, Simamkele managed a competitive 20th, followed by Isanyakha in 25th. In sub-junior boys, Luyolo and Yongama finished right behind each other in 15th and 16th position.

Overall we are really happy with the performance of the team, but we have a few areas to touch up on ahead of the next race.

Sub-junior boys racing.

Thank you to the sponsors who made the trip to Primary Schools League Race #2 possible. They include Biogen and Specialized. Without their generosity it would not be possible to compete in these events.
