Visit to Meerendal's trails

22 May 2017

Outing feedback by Sipho Madolo: Sport Programme manager

With some of our BMX kids taking part in the Eliminator Series, we wanted to give the others (not competing in the series) the opportunity for a fun outing where they could ride their bikes in a different environment. We decided that a visit to Meerendal would be the perfect destination with safe riding for the kids and fantastic facilities on offer.

Team outing to Meerendal

We are super lucky to have our Opel Vivaro sponsored by Reeds which allowed us to take 12 kids. We spent almost 4 hours playing around on the trails with the kids really enjoying the pump track and trail down to the Meerendal manor house.

BMX kids outing

The outing was originally only supposed to be for the BMX kids, but when our mountain bike boys heard about the outing, they decided to organise a long training ride to Meerendal. It was great to have the MTB boys join us and with the perfect weather they had lots of fun riding the Meerendal trails.

We have placed a lot of focus on our older members/young adults doing their bit and helping out in the programme. For our visit to Meerendal, it was great to have the help of Molly and Besty who volunteered to join the outing and help with preparing lunch and packing up the bikes after the ride. We left Meerendal all at the same time with the MTB boys having to ride back and I was super impressed that we didn't wait so long at the clubhouse before the MTB boys arrived back at the clubhouse - their training is definitely paying off.

Thanks to the whole team for making this outing a successful one - it was lots of fun and we look forward to visiting Meerendal again soon.

Heading back down to the Manor house

We greatly appreciate the support we have received from Meerendal in generously sponsoring of our programme for the last 4 years.Click here for more information about Meerendal & the trails.
