THE WP SPUR SCHOOLS MTB LEAGUE #4 REPORT

18 Sep 2018

by Sipho Madolo, Programme Manager

The final round of the WP Spur Schools MTB league took place last Saturday hosted by Paul Roos Gymnasium. Being a ‘home’ race the kids were super excited to take part in the last round of the series. To make it even more exciting and special for the kids, we arranged for some of the kid’s parents to come watch and support them.

Nippers:

Our little nippers had an great race, Mila finishing in the top 10 and Simamkele just outside the top 15. It has been amazing to watch how these two have grown and improved with each race throughout the year. We are so proud of what they have achieved and look forward to watching them grow from strength to strength.

Sprogs:

Although Likho and Amila had a little crash in the last lap, they managed to pick themselves up and continue racing with as much determination as before. They ended with great results placing them just outside the top 10.

Lakhanya and Mivuyo struggle a bit as the course was more technical then previous courses they have raced on. It was great to see them race their hearts out, even as the course challenged them.

Sub-Juniors:

Milani had a fantastic race, grabbing the 3rd spot and finishing 3rd overall in the Spur Schools MTB league series. This was a huge achievement for her and we are so proud of her. She has so much talent and we believe there are great things to come from her in the future. Liyema ended off the series on a high note, racing to the best of his abilities.

Youth and Junior:

What an exciting race the youth and juniors had, it is great to see how much this age group as grown and the amount of talent these kids show. Mzwandile and Bukho really enjoyed their races and both did extremely well! Here is what Bukho thought about his race “I really enjoyed the race today, it was quite challenging, but I gave it my all and I am happy with the result. It is my first year participating in the Spur Schools MTB League and I am really looking forward to next years racing.’’
