THE WP SPUR SCHOOLS MTB LEAGUE #2 REPORT

08 Aug 2018

by Sipho Madolo, Programme Manager

Bloemendal Wine Estate hosted the second round of The Spur Schools MTB League on Saturday the 3rd of August. The Spur School MTB league is just getting better and better every year, was definitely the biggest turn out this past weekend.

We had 12 kids taking part this weekend, added two kids as we had 10 at the previous event.

Nippers

We had two: Mila and Simamkele. It was their first MTB race ever and it was such a good experience for them I think. Simamkele was definitely the happiest kid around Bloemendal and was so cool to see how happy they were with their first medals. They for sure going to the next one.

All four raced their hearts out especially Amila and Likho. Amila finished 5th, Lakhanya also top 10, Likho and Mivuyo just outside top 20. Likho was doing so well lying 6th until he got a flat tire on the last lap. Would be cool to watch him race again on the next one. They all raced so well and it's nice to see the improvement again from the last one. We are really looking forward to seeing how the next race goes.

Sub-Juniors

Milani finished 3rd, Liyema 11th and and Munde raced so well. Munde and Liyema was their second Spur school mtb league race and they improved a lot the past few weeks. Liyema finished 27th on the last event and in this one 11th. It's so special to see our girls’ podium in the events like this one.

 Youth Women and junior

Asabonga had her best race so far this year. I didn't expect that much from her because of a tough competition but she gave everything and finished 3rd. She improved big time and she is so motivated to race again. Our junior Bukho snapped the chain at the start and that was the end of his race. Will be great to see him have a smooth race in Worcester at the end of the month.

A special thank you to @AMARIDER: Meurant Botha and Michelle Du Preez for making this possible for our kids. And, thanks to our supporters and everyone for a huge support on and off the bikes
