Stellenbosch MTB Challenge Race report

03 Aug 2017

Race report by Sipho Madolo, Sports Program Manager.

This past weekend 7 of our older kids took part in one of the biggest one day race in the Western Cape, the Stellenbosch MTB Challenge.  The Stellenbosch MTB Challenge, (previously known as Die Burger MTB Challenge) brings more than 5000 mountain bike enthusiasts to this beautiful town of Stellenbosch every year and it is so special to take part in.

We had 3 girls and 4 boys that took part in the race, 5 did 42km and 3 did 30. It would be great to have all the kids taking part in this event but unfortunately they have to qualify in order to take part in to the events. The qualification criteria is based on behavior, attendance and passing well at school.

 Stellenbosch MTB riders

I am very happy with how they road especially after a very busy holidays with a lots of different activities to keep them busy, they didn’t get time to train as much as they would like too. Ntlantla (Jersey) finished inside the top 10 in 42km, Kaya inside the top ten and the other 2 girls, Molli and Besty inside the top 20. The results don’t really matter what does matter is that they enjoyed it and they are motivated to train and improve.

Thanks so much to Raino Bolz and AMARIDER for the huge support and to the team for making this possible for the kids. Now the next stop is Spur High School League in Montana, Worcester this coming weekend
