Spur Schools League - 30 Aug 2014 @ Paul Roos

02 Sep 2014

On the 30th of August we had 14 kids take part in the Spur Schools League MTB Finals at Paul Roos in Stellenbosch and it is really cool to see how big the Spur League is now compared to 2-3 year ago. The kids woke up early on Saturday to get ready for the race and everyone was so excited for the final and hoping for the good results! The course was not that technical with not lot of climbing which was good for everyone, not too challenging!:)

Songo and I (Sipho) arrived just before the first race start and we just came to support. It was really cool to come and watch the kids giving their best. For me personally was just to support the teammates and to see how the songo girls race after the hard work we have been through in the past few weeks. For songo it was more than that, he came to support , to see what needs to be done to get the kids even better and it was nice seeing him cheering for the kids.

Waiting patiently.

The songo.info team ready to ride to the race.

The girls were nervous before the race but as soon as the race started the nervousness was gone, they gave everything they had and that’s what all matters! Nophiwe finished 4th on thejunior girls and we are so proud of her. Yes, there is still a lot to work on with our girls but we definitely understand that there is nothing happen overnight, we still have time!

Racing up onto Coetzenberg

The boys racing hard.

Racing through the paddocks & fields.

Awesome day out to be riding bikes!

The boys on the other side did so well and Baphelele Mbobo finished 9th on the junior boys and all our boys rode like a champions! “ The race was hard but am happy with my 9th place” Baphelele added.

Big thanks to everyone who support songo.info!

The Spur Schools League is a fantastic national series which is intramental in growing mountain biking amoungst the youth. Schools from around Southern Africa participate in regional Leagues to qualify for the National Final in October. The WP final was held on Sat @ Paul Roos with record number in the WP of 450 kids participating which is testiment to the great work of Amarider, Spur & Anatomic in getting more kids on bikes, providing fun, competitive opportunities to enjoy the sport.
