Out of your comfort zone, is where magic happens!

21 Feb 2017

It has been an amazing journey so far for our Cape-Epic riders preparing for the biggest and toughest stage race in the world. This year we have selected  some of our "less experienced" but talented riders in order to develop new riders further within our programme.

It has been great to have Sipho and Azukile available to train with our Epic riders as they have so much experience to share with them having both ridden Cape Epic a number of times and have wone the Exxaro jersey twice before. I have personally been mentoring Sipho for a long time having riden Cape Epic with him in 2016 which puts him in a good position to look after them and guide them through their epic journey.

Attakwas and the Tankwa Trek are key events in getting ready for the Epic challenge and we are very happy with our riders performance at these two events. For me it was amazing to see how they gained confidence, skills and endurance over those days of racing plus interacting so positively with each other as a team.

They also realised that the saying “out of your comfort zone, is where magic happens” is true, a credo which I continue to repeat to them and live by.  We are super thankful for the 2 Cape-Epic entries and also a big high five to Dryland giving us the opportunity to enter all the kids for their amazing events in preparation!

26 Days until they will line up for the start of the 2017 Cape Epic, I wish them all the luck and smooth sailing in the final weeks of preparation. It's brutal but its an amazing experience and I look forward to watching how they do!
