Night Ride Namibian views Campsite

Khayakazi Madolo

Songo girl ridingDay one, we had a 30km afternoon Ride.A group of about seventy cyclists, comprisedmainly of a more mature white mixed gender group, converged at the Hobas campsite.

We assembled for lunch where we were welcomed by our Hosts, Roland and Francois, who gave us more insight into the event, the rules and everything noteworthy.

Excitedly we set out on our first ride on the arid land.  We had to try to keep focused on the route, which now then demanded our full attention due to rock gardens etc. When we finally reached the scenic Fish River Canyon, which was our watering point, it was already dusk.  It was so dark on our way back to camp that we go to experience all types of bicycle lighting. We had nice hot showers and assembled for the well-prepared supper, which wrapped up our first day in Hobas Camp.

Namibian Mountain

Namibia was so great, I never thought I could see so much beauty in one country. Being on the bike every night made me realise how precious life is. I met new people and made friends. They taught me some lesson about biking in sand and corrugation.

Through everything I learnt that teamwork is very important in Sport.

I had the best tour ever in Namibia. I saw many places (Ai Ais Richtersveld Transfrontier Park, Hot Spring, HobasCamp, Road house, Orange River etc.) Namibia is beautiful and peacefully

A huge Thanks goes to Songo Fipaza for giving me this opportunity....

First off all, I would like to say thank you to my couch (Songo Fipaza) for letting me travel with two gels (Kayakazi Madolo and Sivuyile Kepelele). We travelled from Bellville to Namibia by InterCape.

I will remember my first time in Namibia to be dry, although I had much fun. We began our ride at Hobas Camp, we rode 35km.

I was the sweeper for four days, because people there were looking for someone who can help in terms of mechanical problems.

The second day we rode 70km, from Hobas Camp to Ai Ais Richtersveld Transfrontier Park. Both the ladies did well. I was exhausted because I couldn’t wait for the day of peddling.

The third day we moved from Ai Ais Richtersveld Transfrontier Park to Gamkab Canyon. We took many pictures, because the view was so beautiful.

The fourth day it was paddling at the river. I had much fun. I couldn’t even get tired. We paddled 35km.

Day five I couldn’t wake up in the morning, I felt pain in my arms.

Eventually Roland told me that I had to ride at the front. It is where we lost on of the Ladies. It was so amazing to communicate with people from different places. Especially Franschoer.

I would like to say thanks to Roland.
