2013 Specialized Bike Auction

22 Mar 2013

The public will once have the unique opportunity to bid on the two Specialized S-Works Epic 29’er bikes that Christoph Sauser and Jaroslav Kulhavy race with in the Absa Cape Epic.

Sauser and Kulhavy have put their special Cape Epic bikes up for auction in an effort to raise funds for Sauser’s songo.info charity.

These bikes are totally unique and only two of a kind. Design and branded to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Absa Cape Epic and to honour the late Burry Stander, Christoph Sauser’s teammate in the Epic in the five previous editions of the Epic.

songo.info is a social development program that provides sport and recreational activities to children, offering a safe place to play and grow, establishing values of accountability and responsibility, teaching goal setting and instilling in children the ability to dream and go out and achieve their goals. Sauser started the foundation in 2008.

“The bikes are very special this year as they represent 10 years of the Cape Epic but also a special memory of Burry, who we are riding for. The auction is a great opportunity for us to raise funds for songo.info and help the kids from Kayamandi,” said Sauser. “I think it is great that we can do this for the kids who really need our help to make a difference in their lives. I’m very proud of what the foundation has achieved up until now.”

This year the auction has a slightly different twist. An online bid will run throughout the Epic until Tuesday 26 March at 12:00. The top three bidders on each bike will be contacted and invited to attend the Sauser Unplugged Event at Meerendal Wine Estate on Tuesday evening where the final bidding will take place. For those not able to attend the dinner, an alternative proxy bidder can bid on their behalf.
