The IRONWOMEN Silberbauer sisters are no strangers to silly challenges. In December the pair cycled over 500km in 4 days from Grabouw to Sedgefield. Then in February Bianca completed 294km in the 24 Hours of Oak Valley before riding the inaugural Karoo Burn with her sister Cally a few weeks later. The pair have also competed in triathlons aplenty, including the 2019 Cross Tri Challenge, where they both finished on the podium; Cally in the short distance race and Bianca in the long. Their most recent challenge was to complete the 2020 Cape Town Cycle Tour on a tandem. A feat they achieved despite having only done one, short, 5km practice ride on the tandem the evening before.
The pair are now attempting to complete a 70.3 distance triathlon in their back garden to, become IRONWOMEN and, raise funds for songo.info. It should be said that they have a little advantage, their back garden is the beautiful Trail’s End bike hotel in Grabouw. They thus have access to a 20m two-lane pool, a compact flow trail and a larger than usual garden to complete the 1.9km swim, 90km bike and 21.1km run.
